Discovering Dare County

The craggy, ragged shoreline of Goose Creek State Park is just one of the many unique components of this park that stands alone as the single most environmentally diverse tract of land, open to the public, in this nook of the Inner Banks. Safe Sitters - Better Sitters Today, Better Parents Tomorrow

Washington, NC Vidant Beaufort Hospital will once again offer the Safe Sitters babysitting program this summer. Safe Sitters is a medically accurate program that teaches boys and girls ages 11 to 13 how to handle emergencies when caring for children. The program teaches safe and nurturing child care techniques, behavior management skills, and appropriate responses to medical emergencies.

Sheriff Ernie Coleman and the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is proud to partner with Kingdom Builders. Kingdom Builders is a local street ministry that has been handing out sleeping bags to people in need for the past year. A total of 20 sleeping bags have been given out since the program started.

On March 18, 2015 at approximately 2:18 a.m, the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office received a report of a fire at an abandoned residence on Durham Creek Road near the intersection of Core Point Road. Firefighters with Blounts Creek and Aurora Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the scene. Firefighters requested a Deputy to respond to the scene due to the suspicious nature of the fire. This incident is currently under investigation.

Rodney Lamont Albritton On 3-20-2015, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office Drug Unit and Alcohol Law Enforcement Division executed a search warrant on Rodney Lamont Albritton's residence located at 105 Anderson Place in Washington.

Herbert Garriss On 3-16-2015, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office Drug Unit arrested a second person involved in the Meth Lab discovered on 03-08-2015 at 167 Bradley Lane in Washington.

Investigators arrested Herbert Lee Garriss, 47 years of age, of 2145 Camp Leach Road in Washington. Garriss was charged with Conspiracy to Manufacture Methamphetamine with Bradley Thompson.

Aerial mosquito spraying in coastal areas of Beaufort County will be performed Wednesday or Thursday evening to help combat the dramatic increase in mosquito populations as a result of rains from Hurricane Irene.
